Renee Baxter Declares Candidacy for Desha County Clerk

​

After much thought, consideration, and prayer, I’m proud to officially declare

my candidacy for Desha County Clerk  in the upcoming election cycle.

 

My family and I were born and raised right here in Desha County, and our love for the Delta and its people runs deep. Guided by my faith in God and desire to make a meaningful difference, I believe that there is no greater calling than to serve the place and the people who have shaped me into the woman I am today. I’m beyond blessed by the support that I have already received. I look forward to listening, learning, and leading alongside the citizens of Desha County as we work to make our local government better than ever before.

 

Over the years, I have had the honor of serving the citizens of Desha County in various roles. I currently oversee all record-keeping operations for our Road Department, serve as Deputy OEM Coordinator supporting our local first responders and fire departments, and have managed state and federal grants including FEMA projects, earning compliments from state and federal officials for my professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail. I have also served as an Election Commissioner, dedicated to ensuring that our elections were conducted efficiently, accurately, and fairly. Prior to being appointed, I had the opportunity to work elections, which provided me with firsthand experience and a deep understanding of the critical role that the County Clerk’s office plays in the election process. These experiences have taught me that true public service demands leaders who are willing to always do what is right, even if they stand alone.

As Desha County Clerk, I will transform the office into one that is rooted in Truth, Transparency, & Trust.

  

I will work tirelessly to restore those values and rebuild public confidence by ensuring that every decision is done in the best interest of our county, every taxpayer dollar is properly documented and responsibly accounted for, and all public records and information are open and accessible. My mission is to modernize services to make them more simple, efficient, and easier to use, all while keeping partisan politics out of the office so that our work remains focused solely on the people we are entrusted to serve. It is critical to create a culture of great customer service at our courthouse, one where every citizen is met with dignity and respect the moment that they walk through the door. Protecting the integrity of our elections remain one of my highest priorities. I promise to work closely with our Election Commissioners to safeguard the election process, ensuring that every vote is secure, every ballot is counted with accuracy, and every voice is heard.

Home is where the heart is — and my heart will always be here in Desha County, among so many others who proudly call her home. Together, we will create a County Clerk’s office that truly belongs to the citizens that it was always meant to serve.
